Grapes and therefore the wine industry are threatened by extreme weather events like heatwaves caused by climate change. Researchers at the University of Lisbon are investigating possible solutions, one option is showing promising results so far, the spraying of vines with marine microbes that could help them adapt. It is hoped their research could help wine producers protect their vines from the increasingly harsh and variable weather caused by the climate crisis.
