MARBLES E‑Newsletter Issue 7 - Out now!
MARBLES is delighted to announce the latest issue of the E‑Newsletter, the first update of 2026, showcasing exciting project achievements, highlights and events from across our marine microbiome community.
This issue offers readers insight into the latest news and events from our consortium, including discovering antimicrobial molecules from deep-sea sponge microbes, algal‑associated bacteria that inhibit aquaculture pathogens, contributing to the UN’s BBNJ negotiations in New York, and releasing antiSMASH 8.0 with enhanced biosynthetic gene cluster analysis capabilities. We also get to know MARBLES researcher Mitja Zdouc in the Netherlands and confirm nature is still one of the most powerful sources for new medicines!
As we enter the final months of the project, preparations are underway for the MARBLES Stakeholder Summit - Transforming Marine Biodiversity into Innovation on 26 March 2026 at the Naturalis Biodiversity Center in Leiden, the Netherlands. This one-day industry-focused event marks the culmination of the project and will showcase its key outcomes, lessons learned and future perspectives for marine biotechnology and biodiversity research.
