DTU is an international elite technical university at the multidisciplinary forefront of technical and natural sciences. During the last two decades, life sciences have become a key focus area at DTU addressing biotechnology, synthetic biology, biomedicine and food technology. The department for Biotechnology and Biomedicine (DTU Bioengineering) is an international leader in biotechnology and biomedicine using an engineering approach to all aspects of biotechnology and biomedicine. The department has a strong focus on microbial ecophysiology and biotechnology and excels in several areas of microbial biocontrol, including plant biocontrol, probiotics for humans and fish and novel bioactive compounds.

DTU Bioengineering will be involved in WP1, 2, 3 and 5, and will be leading WP2 on testing behaviour of algal-bacterial systems.
