Screening and Validation
WP5 will play a central role contributing to identifying the best candidate compounds that can respond to the proposed target product profile defined for each of the industrial applications included in the project, and will ensure the resources for further development and validation of these molecules.
Generate optimized libraries of wild-type isolates and recombinant strains produced in WP1, WP2 and WP3.
Screen all microbial extract libraries and pure compounds generated in MARBLES on a panel of major aquaculture pathogens and phytopathogens, and a panel of emerging antibiotic resistant bacterial and fungal pathogens.
Identify most promising hit compounds according to their activity profiles for bioprocess development.
Optimise production conditions and downstream processing of most promising hits to deliver first large amounts of compounds.
Perform validation studies and technology transfer to pilot scale.
