MARBLES partners University of Aberdeen (UNIABDN) and 3BIO/ABS International (ABSint) actively participated in the Second Preparatory Commission for the UN Agreement on the Conservation and Sustainable Use of Marine Biological Diversity of Areas Beyond National Jurisdiction (BBNJ Agreement), held from 18–29 August 2025 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

Natural algal communities can inhibit aquaculture pathogens

MARBLES partner Technical University of Denmark (DTU), has published their research that demonstrates bacteria derived from live-feed microalgae are capable of inhibiting fish pathogens. They also discovered that bacterial co-cultures may provide synergistic benefits over monocultures such as probiotics, highlighting their promising potential for applications against infectious disease in aquaculture.
